Polenta dinner benefits ICF charities

Gilroy – Italian Catholic Federation Branch #28 presents their seventh annual Polenta Dinner, prepared by Chef Mario Fiorio and crew, Feb. 3, St. Mary Church Cullen Hall 11 First St.

All proceeds benefit ICF charities. Take out dinner available after 5:30pm, bring your own containers. Dinner to be served from 6 to 7pm. Donation $12, adults and $5 for children younger than 10. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Experience some classic sounds with ‘Soul Terrain’

Gilroy – The City of Gilroy Community Services Department presents Bisceglie’s “Soul Terrain.”

Come experience the sounds of Motown, disco and soul in this ultimate all-singing, all-dancing wild revue, featuring 75 local kids.

Performances continue through Jan. 28, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm; Sundays at 1 and 5pm. Performances will be held at the Gilroy High School Theater. All tickets are $12, reserved seating and reservations are recommended.

Girls’ softball signups

San Martin – The Spirit Girls’ Softball League is still accepting registrations for girls ages 5 to 18 to play recreational softball. The season runs from March until May with teams formed in February. All games are played at San Martin-Gwinn Elementary School.

Uniform sizing is Saturday from 9am to 1pm at San Martin-Gwinn for all ages (5 to 18) and girls ages 11 and older will be evaluated so they can be placed on appropriate teams.

Coyote Creek bird walk

Morgan Hill – A series of bird walks led by Jane Haley, a National Park Service docent for 20 years and Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center volunteer, began in January at Coyote Creek, north of Morgan Hill, but others are planned.

Bird walks also will be held Feb. 3, March 3 and March 31. Due to the terrain, these walks are not recommended for young children.

The programs are free, space is limited and reservations are required.
