Learn How to Cut Water Use

Gilroy – Area residents can learn how to cut water use at 7pm Tuesday when Shawn Novack of the Water Resources Association of San Benito County will update water users on the regional drought, the effect of growth on water resources and water conservation tips.

A question-answer session follows Novack’s presentation, which will be held at the YMCA, 339 Fifth St., Hollister.

Horsemen Host Ride in Mt. Madonna Park

San Martin – The San Martin Horsemen’s Association will host a pleasure ride at Mt. Madonna Park Saturday, July 14, followed by a barbecue and potluck. Space is limited to 30.

Play Poker, Raise Funds for Services

Gilroy – The third annual Garlic No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament is set for 10am July 14 at the Gilroy Senior Center.

Four-person teams will play at different tables in this recreational event. An entry fee of $60 is needed per team.

All proceeds from this event, the 13th in a series of Texas Hold ‘Em Tournaments hosted by the Gilroy Community Services Department, benefit senior, teen and youth programs.

Gilroy – South County Garden Railroaders invite the public to the 13th annual Garden Layout Tour to benefit the St. Joseph’s Center and Community Pantry from 9am to 3pm July 22. Visit 11 model railroads running through some of the most unusual backyard gardens in Gilroy, Morgan Hill, Hollister and Scotts Valley as well the masterfully done San Juan Pacific Club layout at Bolado Park, the Bay Area Garden Railway Society modular layout and Live Steam layout. Buy A Book, Help Rebekah Services

Gilroy – In an effort to raise funds for Rebekah Children’s Services, the nonprofit has partnered with Yvonne Drew author of “Today I Was Adopted.” The goal is to sell 1,000 books. Proceeds benefit Rebekah Children’s Services.
