Fund-raiser Benefits GHS Interact Club
Gilroy – Gilroy High School’s Interact Club is working on a benefit concert scheduled for Nov. 9. Funds raised during the concert will help the club build a school in Ghana, sustainable farming in Panama, and tuberculosis testing in Tibet.
The Interact Club is a Rotary-sponsored service club for teens ages 14 to 18. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.
Today, Panera Bread in Gilroy will donate a percentage of sales to the Gilroy Interact Club.

Hospice Volunteer Training Scheduled
Gilroy – The Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice will hold free training sessions today, Saturday and Sunday for volunteers, age 18 and older, who will assist the nonprofit VNA hospice team in providing services during the final stage of a person’s life.
The first session will be from 6 to 9pm today and will discuss what hospice is, the role and responsibilities of the volunteer, and supportive measures a volunteer can give to the family and patient during the five stages of dying. Then, from 9am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday, they will discuss the communication process, will provide an understanding of care and comfort measures, discuss how to identify physical and emotion stress and ways to reduce personal stress.

Fundraiser for Violinists
Gilroy – The violin kids are going on a tour to Europe next summer to perform in Hungary, Austria, Germany and Slovakia. There will be fund-raising event “A Little Violin Music,” and an all-you-can-eat-drink wine and appetizer reception. Event will be held from 1 to 4pm today at 2290 Coral Bell Court, Gilroy. Looking for Citizen Input
Gilroy – A community forum will be held from 6 to 7pm Tuesday to gather input from residents about the ideal qualities, attributes and experience for Gilroy’s next city administrator. The information obtained from the community and other stakeholders will be used in advertising this key position and for screening applicants.
The firm of Peckham & McKenney, charged with finding applicants, will be in attendance. The meeting takes place in the City Council Chambers at Gilroy City Hall, 7351 Rosanna St.
