Eight Arrested in Gang Fight at StriXe Lounge

Morgan Hill – Eight people were arrested early Sunday morning after a gang fight in the parking lot of the StriXe lounge in the Tennant Station shopping center.

Another person was detained on suspicion of being drunk in public and later released, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing.

California Highway Patrol officers and Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist Morgan Hill police with the gang fight.

No weapons were seen, but officers found a large group of people fighting outside the bar and arrested eight people shortly after 1:30am: Arthur Hernandez, 36, of Hollister; Jocelyn Gonzalez, 21, of Hollister; Carlos Gonzalez, 24, of Hollister; and Jason Sevilla, 18, Anthony DeJesus, 19, Travis Persijn, 21; Abel Charirez, 19, and Evan Martinez, 18, all whose city of residence was unavailable.

Swing said witnesses reported hearing the fighters yelling gang slurs at each other. He said he didn’t know if any of those involved in the fight were injured.

Accident Kills Aptos Man

Hollister – Wet roads and unsafe speeds left a man dead Saturday morning after he flipped a convertible on Highway 152 west of Dinosaur Point, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office was unable to confirm the crash victim’s identity Monday, whom the CHP reported as a 59-year-old Aptos man. The first wet spell this rain season may have made road conditions less safe, said officer Chris Armstrong, a public information officer for the Hollister-Gilroy area office of the CHP.

Officers reported that the tires of the 1997 Jaguar the man was driving had “inadequate tread depth.” The car hit a dirt embankment about 7:55am Saturday, coming to rest on its roof on westbound Highway 152.

The man was wearing a seatbelt and died from head injuries, officers reported. Armstrong said the driver crashed while on a downhill curve at an unsafe speed. Highway 152 was closed for about two hours , the CHP reported.

Police Looking for Battery Suspect

Morgan Hill – A Morgan Hill man is at large after breaking into a former girlfriend’s apartment twice last week, police said.

Jeffrey Anders, 39, was arrested Sept. 7 for domestic battery and false imprisonment after an incident with the former girlfriend, according to Morgan Hill police Cmdr. David Swing. He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Thursday night, Anders, who was released from jail, broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and barricaded himself inside. He refused to open the door when police arrived. Officers were preparing to force the door open while continuing to talk with Anders, when he agreed to let them in. He was transported to Valley Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation, Swing said.

Anders’ former girlfriend was not home during the incident, and she wasn’t home Friday, when, after his release from the hospital, he returned to the apartment and kicked in the door.

He left before officers arrived, Swing said. In an apparent attempt to evade officers, Anders changed clothes while officers were searching. The clothes he was seen wearing were found by an officer near the apartment.
