The Gilroy Police Department responded to a variety of crimes in the past week, including burglary, participation in a criminal street gang, possession of a controlled substance for sale, hit and run and battery. Arrests are recorded from the GPD’s blotter dating Oct. 3 through Oct. 15.
Gang related
-Anthony Quijada, 21, on October 6 at 2:43 p.m. near the intersection of Eighth and Eigleberry streets for felony participation in a criminal street gang, felony alteration of a firearm’s ID mark, carrying a loaded firearm on the person, carrying a concealed weapon on the person, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle and felony possession of a firearm by an active participant in a criminal street gang.

-Andrew Garcia, 25, on October 3 at 3:45 p.m. at an unspecified location in Gilroy for use/being under the influence of a controlled substance, a felony charge of driving in willful disregard of safety, possession of burglary tools, felony false personation exposing the victim to liability, felony selling or aiding the sale of stolen property, felony possession of a firearm as a felon, felony processing as a violator for revocation, resisting, delaying or obstructing a peace officer, driving while unlicensed and unlawful registration with intent to avoid compliance.
-Daniel Zuniga, 28, on October 3 at 11:30 p.m. on the 7600 block of Eigleberry Street for felony possession of a saps (a small leather bludgeon) or similar weapon, two charges – one a felony charge and the other a misdemeanor – of possession of a controlled substance, driving with privileges suspended or revoked, and felony release on bail/own recognizance.
-Eduardo Carrera, 19, on October 6 at 3:57 p.m. near the intersection of West Eighth and Eigleberry streets for possession of marijuana in vehicle and driver allowing gun in car.
-John Kerestesy, 35, on October 8 at 1:05 p.m. on the 6100 block of Monterey Street for felony selling or aiding in selling stolen property and unlawful registration.
-Arthur Sanmiguel, 28, on October 11 at 3:34 a.m. on the 3100 block of Monterey Road for representing a false ID to a police officer and possession of a controlled substance.
-Ramon Diaz, 29, on October 11 at 2:28 a.m. on the 6100 block of Monterey Road for felony possession of a controlled substance, violation of protective order, unlawful possession of paraphernalia, false imprisonment, battery against spouse or cohabitant, possession of burglary tools and felony processing as violator for revocation.
-Aurora Gilmour, 57, on October 15 at 3:13 a.m. on the 7900 block of Church Street for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in vehicle, DUI and use/being under the influence of a controlled substance.

-Joseph Carranza, 25, on October 4 at 2:47 p.m. on the 400 block of Welburn Avenue for driving with a blood alcohol level (BAC) of .08 or higher and driving under the influence (DUI).
-Manuel Haro, 41, on October 6 at 3:54 p.m. near the intersection of Soledad Street and Heritage Way for DUI, driving with a BAC of .08 or higher and two felony counts of possession of a narcotic controlled substance.
