Three engines from the Gilroy City Fire Department extinguished a small vegetation fire Wednesday afternoon in the creek near Antonio Del Buono Elementary School.
Acting Battalion Chief Shaun Peyghambary said the call came in at 11:14 a.m., three engines arrived at 11:17 a.m. and the 1.5 to one acre grass fire was controlled by 11:32 a.m. Peyghambary added the Wren Fire Station is in close proximity to the fire scene so responders arrived within three minutes of the call.
The fire didn’t threaten any structures or people. The cause of the fire was not identified on the report and nobody was seen fleeing the scene, according to Peyghambary.
