Each month, the principals of Gilroy and Christopher high schools choose a total of four students (two from GHS and two from CHS) to spotlight. GHS senior Alexia Lussier, 17, is this week’s Student of the Week.
What inspires you? Day-to-day challenges inspire me to push forward and fight for what I want.Â
Favorite subject in school: My favorite subject is Econ, I didn’t know much about economics until this year but found out it was the most interesting class and I have a really great and hilarious teacher.
If you could change anything in the world: If I could change anything in the world I would stop all the violence and pain that humans cause each other.Â
If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Honestly I can’t decide where I would go if I could go anywhere. I want to go everywhere and see the whole world but I think I would start off in Australia.
Name one big challenge in your life right now: I think the biggest challenge for me right now is getting prepared to go on to college, letting go of a part of my life and moving on to something bigger.Â
Dream job: That’s a hard question to answer, as of right now I’m going into college as a political science major but who knows where I will end up, I’m still young and have a lot of things to discover about myself.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without? On an island I could not live without sunscreen because I don’t tan. My cellphone, I’m a text addict and a big fan of Netflix, and lastly bug repellant, I hate bugs with a passion.
Favorite book: I really enjoyed reading “The Great Gatsby” by Fitzgerald. And to be truthful, I’d rather look at the movies then read the books.Â
Plans post high school: All I have planned after high school is attending UC Santa Barbara.Â
Something that makes you smile: It sounds cheesy but spending time with people I love most makes me smile.
