In the wake of Wednesday’s double shooting that left Jesse Emmanuel Silos, 30, dead after he was shot in a gang-related attack that also seriously wounded another victim, 37, a Community Safety Meeting will be held from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Eliot Elementary School, located at 475 Old Gilroy St.
The gathering, which is sponsored by the City of Gilroy, the Gilroy Police Department, the Gilroy Unified School District, the South County Youth Task Force and the Gilroy Gang Task Force will discuss last week’s horrific double shooting on the 7300 block of Chestnut Street.
Officials from the City, school and community agencies will be in attendance to inform parents and community members about this “recent act of violence and to discuss how we can all help to keep our neighborhood safe,” the press release states. “Please come and share your concerns and your ideas for solutions to help keep our neighborhoods safe for our children and youth.”
English translation and childcare services will be available.
For more information call the Eliot School office at (408) 847-5333.
Wednesday’s homicide is Gilroy’s first this year. The last in the city took place at 9:33 p.m. Dec. 31, 2012 when Elpidio Morales Jr., 51, was gunned down near the intersection of Old Gilroy and Alexander streets. Officers are still investigating that case as well.
