Augusta National chairman Billy Payne announced Wednesday that winners of all fall PGA Tour tournaments – including the Frys.com Open from Oct. 10 to 13 at CordeValle – will receive an invite to the 2014 Masters.

Previously, Augusta National excluded Frys.com Open and other Fall Series events from earning automatic Masters berths.

That changed after the PGA Tour altered its policy regarding the Fall Series. Starting this year, the Fall Series will open the 2013-14 schedule and will receive full FedEx Cup points.

“I certainly think it will be a positive, and it ties in to the way the tour set up its schedule,” said Augusta National competition committee chairman Fred Ridley in a news release. “We thought it was important to have tournament winners in the Masters.”
