THIS WEEK’S WEB POLL:

Do you believe administrators at MACSA who used teacher retirement funds for operational expenses at El Portal Leadership Academy should be criminally prosecuted?

Yes: 6 No: 6

â–  YES, but maybe the Grand Jury should investigate first.

â–  Yes. Willfull breaking of the law requires prosecution and possible shutting down of the charter school if further budgetary malfeasance is demonstrated.

â–  No. There needs to be ramifications but I don’t think it should be criminal.

â–  They should be prosecuted! Stealing is illegal! It is totally wrong and of course they will get away with it. Things are tough all over, don’t steal from your employees.

â–  No. It was a bad decision but no money went for personal use. The money was used to keep the agency afloat. What happens will be determined by a court of law. It could have been avoided if handled differently.

â–  No, and I hate to see the reputation destroyed of a community-based organization that has done so much for Gilroy. These are desperate times for community based organizations. MACSA used desperate methods to keep line staff employed.
