FREMONT – The Silicon Valley Mustangs 13-and-Under won the USSSA “Spring-N-Fling” baseball tournament held at the Fremont Sports Complex held March 7-8.
The team is made up of players from Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Hollister. This tournament was the first of the spring season. The team played five games over two days. The Mustangs defeated Stealth, a team out of Santa Clara which had a 23-5 record going into the weekend, twice during the tournament – once during pool play and again in the championship game. The Mustangs won the title by a score of 12-4, and they scored 37 runs while allowing only 19 during the course of the tournament.
Ten of the Mustangs’ players were part of the squad to play at the Cooperstown Field of Dreams Park in New York this past summer, where the team finished 13th out of 98 teams after a week’s worth of games.
