first two playoff games, the Gilroy Browns Junior Midget squad
suffered its first loss of the season 30-20 in the championship
game against Santa Clara on Saturday.
SANTA CLARA – After an 8-0 regular season, and shutouts in its first two playoff games, the Gilroy Browns Junior Midget squad suffered its first loss of the season 30-20 in the championship game against Santa Clara on Saturday.
The Browns trailed 16-14 entering the fourth quarter, but Santa Clara scored three times in the final quarter to put the game out of reach.
The browns were the only team in the Peninsula Conference to survive the regular season undefeated. They also beat the defending champions, the Almaden Mustangs, twice this year, including a shutout of the Mustangs in the semifinals.
