Save The World Air, Inc.’s Technology is highlighted in the February 2009 edition of Popular Science Magazine. The issue was recently released to subscribers and is hitting the newsstands now.

The article, titled “Planet Fixers, Clever Innovations for a Greener Future,” highlights technologies that are being developed to provide solutions to existing environmental and energy production issues. A section of the article called “Diesel Diet” focuses solely on STWA’s ELEKTRA technology.

“Since this article was released we have received numerous phone calls from companies and organizations worldwide looking for more information on the ELEKTRA,” commented Cecil Bond Kyte, Chairman of Save The World Air, Inc. “The excitement and anticipation of the release of our products is very rewarding to everyone on the team at STWA. We are working diligently through the testing and certification processes to bring the ELEKTRA product to the diesel trucking market in 2009.”

La Filice receives award for wine

The La Filice 2006 Shell Creek Petite Sirah was recently awarded the Double Gold Medal in its class in the 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, (www.winejudging.com). Medal winners are required to feature the winning wines at a public tasting held in San Francisco, at Fort Mason, on Feb. 28. Details: www.lafilice.com.

EDC appoints board members

The Gilroy Economic Development Corporation, a non-profit organization focusing on economic development and sustainability, announced the appointment of Susan Black and David Boll to its Board of Directors.

Susan Black, President/CEO of Pinnacle Bank brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the banking industry to the Gilroy Economic Development Board. Past assignments include serving as President of the Community Banking Group of Greater Bay Bancorp in Palo Alto, serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Mid-Peninsula Bank, and as an Officer of the Greater Bay Bancorp Foundation. Ms. Black has served on numerous boards in the community and was named the Distinguished Citizen of the Year 2000 by the Skyline Council of Boy Scouts of America.

David Boll, is founder and President/CEO of Heartwood Cabinets, which is recognized as one of Santa Clara County’s premier cabinet manufacturer. Heartwood Cabinets has been in business since 1982 and relocated from Santa Clara to Gilroy in 2000. His current assignment includes serving as Chairman of the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has been active on the board since 2007. He has also served as a Director on the Loma Prieta Resource Conservation District Board since 2004.

Kurt Michielssen Senior Vice President of South Valley National Bank was elected Chairman of the Board. Also elected as officers are Susan Black as Vice-Chairman and Susan Patereau as Secretary/Treasurer. Continuing on the board are, Bob Dillon, Al Pinheiro and Bill Reimal.
