Supporting troops

The founder of Operation Interdependence (www.oidelivers.org) will be in Gilroy to show how people can support the troops overseas without impacting military resources.

Childbirth Preparation

Saint Louise Regional Hospital hosts Childbirth Preparation classes alternate months on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9pm and all day Saturday classes, from 9am to 4pm, in the hospital boardroom.

Self Defense Classes

ASDA (American Self-Defense Academy), located at 7822 Monterey St., is holding classes for children, ages 3 through 8, in their ‘Lil Dragon Program. Focusing on self-esteem, self-control, respect, and safety and life skills.

Running Club

Meets at 8:15am every Saturday at Christmas Hill Park, near the entrance. Jog two to three miles including short track workout. Beginner joggers and those who would like to compete in running events are welcome.

Biking Group

The Health Ministries Program of Gilroy Presbyterian Church is sponsoring a Biking Group every Saturday, at 8:30am, leaving from the parking lot by First Street Coffee House, located at the corner of First Street and Westwood Drive.

Independence Rally

The Hollister Independence Rally continues through Sunday. There are events for everyone throughout the weekend.

Guided tours

Two-hour guided tours of Elkhorn Slough leave from Moss Landing Saturday, July 2 at 12:15pm; Sunday, July 3 at 12:15pm and Monday, July 4 at 9:15am. Space is limited so reservations are required.

Grief Share

Grief Share holds weekly support group meetings at First Baptist Church, 8455 Wren Ave., from 7 to 9pm in the Choir room. Those grieving the loss of someone close can find comfort and encouragement from others who understand what they are experiencing and want to help through their difficult time.

Street Dance

A street dance will be held in Morgan Hill on Monterey Road between Main and Dunne from 7pm to 11pm.

Fireworks

Gilroy High School will have a 20-minute fireworks show, launched from the high school’s baseball field.

July Fourth racing

Morgan Hill 5K and Children’s 1 mile will be July 4, at 8am at PA Walsh Elementary School, 353 West Main St. Registration from 6:15 to 7:45am day of race. All children 11 and younger receive a wristband.

Heart to Heart Ministries

Heart to Heart Ministries welcomes the Tri-County Community to come and share with the Bethany Community Church women’s department sharing closet. This ministry provides new and used free clothing for men, women and children in addition to shoes, purses and stuffed animals.
