Dear Editor,
I just wanted to publicly thank the very nice gentleman at the
toll booth on the Benicia Bridge this past weekend.
On my monthly Air Force Reserve weekends, I travel over that

Dear Editor,
I just wanted to publicly thank the very nice gentleman at the toll booth on the Benicia Bridge this past weekend.
On my monthly Air Force Reserve weekends, I travel over that bridge from Gilroy very early on Saturday mornings. Needless to say, both I and the toll takers are usually still a bit bleary-eyed at that hour.
I traveled up to Travis AFB this past Saturday and when I got to the toll booth, the man inside asked me if I was on duty this weekend (I was in uniform). I told him that, in fact, I was. He thanked me for my service and all that we do for our country and then proceeded to reach into his own wallet and pay my toll for me. He said it was the least he could do for us and that it would be his honor to take care of that for me.
While I thanked him at the time, I just wanted to thank him publicly for his gesture. It always means a lot to those of us in uniform when someone goes out of their way to show us how much we are appreciated. It’s nice to know there are still good and honorable people in this world. Many thanks, you made my weekend!
