The 47th TheatreWorks Silicon Valley season starts out with a strong production that fits well with current events. Confederates is set during a presidential campaign with a “snag.” The people who find it, work it, providing an example of how far the media will go get the story while staying within the law. It’s a story of how one almost innocent mistake can upset an entire future. Superbly written by playwright Suzanne Bradlbeer, three magnificent actors show how they manage the situation at hand.

TheatreWorks welcomes the return of Jessica Lynn Carroll and Richard Prioleau, joined by Tasha Lawrence (from Broadway) as the three characters that director Lisa Rothe moves with terrific detail.

Andrew Boyce’s set are truly unique. Scenes swirl within one another on a turntable and change locations as actors walk from one set into another, a truly remarkable work in the art of scenic design.

Sound and lighting by Brendon Aanes and Pamila Z. Gray add to the high standards of this TheatreWorks presentation.

A mix of comedy, drama and fine performances keep audience attunded to the well written story, making for a most enjoyable evening.

Confederates is a world premiere of fine theatre that is TheatreWorks’ stock in trade.
