Dear Editor,

Cheers for Pat Vickroy taking the school district to task for endangering the health of students and teachers alike!

Pat Vickroy should be commended, I agree, for trying to protect his class from the mold in his room. The district appears to have avoided telling the staff about the dangers of the buildings they were placed in – buildings that appear to have previously been tested. All inspection records of these buildings should be made public.

It is commonplace, across the country, for school districts to avoid the truth about leaky, moldy, dangerous buildings and, inconceivably, place human beings in harm’s way by forcing teachers and students to remain in moldy buildings. Much illness and chronic health conditions result. Parents and teachers, alike, should see to it that these classrooms are closed and the students relocated to a safe, healthy space, for the remainder of the year – and that no one is placed back in them ever again.
