On a day where five Christopher High wrestlers won Monterey Bay League individual championships, the Cougars put a stranglehold on a team-title, placing first overall Saturday at Seaside High.
The Cougars went undefeated through the MBL regular season (6-0) to claim a piece of the title. Their tournament victory Saturday gives them the other half and the outright ownership of a MBL crown.
Jimmie Lopez, Raul Meza, Ricardo Bribiescas, Andras Kabai and John Riffle took gold, while Jacob Graffigna, Herjinder Bahndal, Tomas Zamora, Josh Aguilera, Jesus Nunez and Stevie White took second. All 11 of those Cougars advance to next weekend’s Central Coast Section championship meet.
