A San Jose man and woman were flown to the hospital after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a deer in west Morgan Hill, authorities said.
Larry Hurst, 47, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Uvas Road with Tonya McCash, 46, riding on the back when the accident happened about 7:59 p.m. Tuesday, according to California Highway Patrol officer Dakota Smith.
A deer “ran right in front of them” while they were traveling on Uvas Road, just north of Little Uvas Road, Smith said. Both Hurst and McCash were ejected from the motorcycle.
Hurst suffered a cut to his face, as well as road rash, scrapes and abrasions as a result of the collision, authorities said. McCash suffered a broken arm and a complaint of pain to her neck.
Both were transported by helicopter to San Jose Regional Hospital, Smith said.
The carcass of the deer who struck the motorcycle was found at the scene of the accident, Smith added.
