• Morgan Hill – After a four-week investigation, the Morgan Hill Police Department officers served a search warrant on May 7 at 16505 Condit Road, Executive Inn, room 217. The officers recovered narcotics and several other drug-related items.

Steven Lara, 20, of Gilroy was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on felony charges of possession for sale, under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and child endangerment.

A 17-year-old female from Gilroy, who also had her five-month old child with her, was present during the search. She was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges of possession of controlled substance for sale, child endangerment and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

A small amount of controlled substance with paraphernalia was found in the diaper of the five-month old as it was being changed and led to the additional child endangerment charges for both individuals.

Open house: GATE at Rucker

• Gilroy – An open house showcasing the Rucker self-contained GATE program will be held Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30pm at Rucker Elementary School.

This open house will give prospective students and their parents a chance to meet the teachers and parents involved in the program and to discuss the program in depth. Rucker Elementary school is located at 325 Santa Clara Ave. in Gilroy.

Bluegrass bonus
