Sarah’s Vineyard was founded in 1978 in the windy funnel of the Hecker Pass, a few miles west of Gilroy on Highway 152. For more than 30 years Sarah’s has specialized in estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay made in small batches using classic Burgundian winemaking techniques and French oak cooperage.
Sarah’s also makes a variety of other wines for their wine club members and the general public, from estate-grown grapes or local vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains or Santa Clara Valley. They have an excellent vineyard microclimate at the base of Mount Madonna, with a strong Maritime influence provided by the nearby mountain pass and close proximity to Monterey Bay. Typical summer days at our estate include foggy mornings, bright afternoon sun accompanied by a strong ocean breeze, and chilly nights in the low 50s. Recent accolades include multiple gold and silver medals for their Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Rhone style wines from the San Francisco Chronicle and San Francisco International Wine Competitions.
