Anchored by freshman Lauren Castro’s no-hitter, the Gilroy High softball team defeated Alisal 10-0 in five innings in the Tri-County Athletic League opener Thursday in Gilroy.
Castro struck out eight and allowed just one base runner en route to the no-hitter.
The Mustangs (5-1 overall, 1-0 TCAL) tallied twice in the in the first, five times in the second and three times in the third. It was Gilroy’s second straight double digit win.
Amber Gamboa, who has five hits in her last five at-bats, went 2 for 2, Shawnte Garcia went 2 for 3 with two doubles and Nicole Green was also 2 for 3.
