CalFire wants you to have a fun and safe Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is often the day of the year when firefighters respond to the most kitchen fires.

To avoid a holiday disaster, Cal Fire advises people to stay in the kitchen when using the stove, and turn off the stove when you leave the kitchen even for a short period of time. If using a turkey fryer, be sure to follow instructions closely and to only use the appliance outdoors. Cal Fire also recommends people to have a fire extinguisher handy at all times, and to never use water to put out a grease fire. Before guests arrive, make sure that all smoke alarms are installed and working.
