TENNIS: Alisal sweeps doubles play in 5-2 win over Christopher

If last Wednesday’s 5-0 loss to Monterey was the wake up call, the Christopher High boys varsity soccer team answered the bell Friday. With 11 players to fill out the roster, and no substitutions available, the Cougars hit the road against Monterey Bay League opponent Monte Vista Christian and salvaged a 0-0 tie.
Head coach Ricardo Espinosa said he was proud of the effort and added that the players’ effort characterized the team attitude he has wanted to see on the field. CHS collected six shots on goal, and nearly had the game-winner twice on breakaway chances, Espinosa said.
The Cougars (0-2 in league) will go for MBL victory No. 1 on Wednesday versus North Monterey County at 3:30 p.m. at CHS.
