Sign up for the Run for the Stinkin’ Roses Cougar Classic 5K and 10K run that will take place Sept. 30 at Solorsano Middle School.  All proceeds benefit the Christopher High School cross country team. • The Gilroy High girls volleyball team is in need of new uniforms, and you can help. Head to First Street Coffee House in Gilroy on Aug. 10 between 5:30 and 11 a.m. The shop is donating 20 percent of the proceeds gained during that time toward the GHS girls volleyball program.
• The Gilroy Little League Junior softball All-Star team is headed to Arizona next week to play in the Western Regional tournament – the final stop before the World Series. The team is seeking donations toward the team’s travel fund. If cash isn’t the option for you, providing an item for auction is another avenue. • The Morgan Hill Youth Sports Alliance is co-hosting the first COPA Univision Area de la Bahia 5-on-5 soccer tournament this Saturday and Sunday at the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center – 16500 Condit Road. The tournament consists of boys and mens teams, an over-35 bracket with pick up games, skills challenges and contests. There is also a kid fun zone that has a water slide, jump house, face painting and carnival games. As part of the day there will be a celebrity soccer game between the Univision DJs and the Morgan Hill Police Department at noon.
• The Nor-Cal Elite All-Stars Competition Cheer team has opened a new second location at the Champions Academy Gym – 700 Jarvis Drive – and the seventh season is just around the corner.
