Christopher High head coach Brian Calimpong knew a challenge would be presented to his volleyball team by Pajaro Valley. But the Cougars, who were coming off of a 3-0 win over Gilroy, wrapped up their second straight match in three sets Thursday night.

CHS breezed through set one and needed to worked a couple points extra to clinch the final two in a 25-15, 27-25, 26-24 Monterey Bay League Pacific Division triumph against the Grizzlies.

“They really pushed us in that second and third set, but the girls were able to pull it out in three,” Calimpong said.

Emily Doughty and Hanna Tabron shared the team-high with 11 kills, and Olivia Tabron was one behind with 10. That trio, which combined for 29 kills on Tuesday, had 32 of the team’s 52 on Thursday. Cheyanne DeLaMerced contributed seven kills and Alex Gerberick had five. Michelle Toves had 21 digs on defense.

“We had big plays from a lot of people,” Calimpong said.
