2005 with his family at his side after a courageous 17-month battle
with cancer.
Mark Millerd Burd passed away peacefully in his sleep May 4, 2005 with his family at his side after a courageous 17-month battle with cancer.
Mark was born June 27, 1937 in Natrona, Pa. After graduating high school, he joined the Navy and spent four years in various Mediterranean ports. After leaving the Navy, Mark joined IBM in Fishgill, N.Y. and eventually moved to San Jose to work at the Cottle Road IBM facility. After 34 years at IBM, Mark retired to enjoy golf, his family and delighting children with train rides at the San Martin Pumpkin Patch.
Mark and Connie moved from San Jose to Morgan Hill in 1977.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Connie Burd; daughters Stacey Burd of San Jose; Stephanie (Burd) Corcoran and son-in-law Ryan Corcoran of Menlo Park; son Scott Burd of Morgan Hill; sisters Connie Persun of Murrysville, Pa. and Marcy Wilson of Apollo, Pa.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be a celebration of Mark’s life on Saturday, May 14 at 3pm at the home of Connie Burd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
