Many Thanks for Beautiful Kidney Donation Story
Dear Editor,
I just want to thank you for the “Gift of Life” story. Dottie Stewart is my sister-in-law, and I am so very proud of her.
She is a witness of Christ’s love to many, many people.

Cold Nights Bring a Plea to Bring Your Best Friend Inside
Dear Editor,
This winter, we at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals hope caring people will help provide shelter and warmth to a lonely dog chained outside by becoming an “Angel for Animals” sponsor.
Many dogs throughout the country are forced to live outdoors in the bitter cold, suffering from frostbite and dying because of a lack of shelter. PETA does everything it can to persuade the families of these dogs to allow them indoors, often with success, but there are some people who refuse to let their dogs indoors.
In order to bring comfort to as many of these dogs as possible, PETA builds and delivers hundreds of sturdy, straw-filled doghouses every year.
The doghouses are often the only “home” these dogs have ever had, and it’s humbling to see how just four walls, a roof and a fluffy bed of straw can make such a huge difference in their lives. But we can’t do it alone. Readers can share the warm feeling of helping a dog in need this holiday season by becoming an “Angel for Animals” or giving the gift of a doghouse sponsorship to a loved one. Visit www.HelpingAnimals.com for more information.

‘Tree of Light’ Event a Chance to Make a Difference
Dear Editor,
On Tuesday, Dec. 5 the community is invited to share in the second annual “Tree of Light Celebration” at Saint Louise Regional Hospital from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The hospital tree will be lit at 6pm with lights that have been purchased in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Refreshments will be served, donated by many of the local restaurants. Members of the Gilroy High School Chamber Choir will entertain us with Christmas Carols.
In addition, several florists and individuals have donated wreaths that will be available for sale as a silent auction. There are two lovely raffle prizes (tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5) as well as door prizes.
The “Tree of Light” is sponsored by the volunteers, in cooperation with the Saint Louise Regional Hospital Foundation. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Maternal Health Department.
We encourage you to come out and support the event. You may also purchase a light that evening. All names of the honorees are inscribed in a permanent album, which will be on display throughout December and January in the lobby at Saint Louise Regional Hospital.
