Survivors, staff, volunteers and law enforcement will meet to share stories

Gilroy – For 25 years, Community Solutions has served survivors of sexual assault, from the first crisis call to post-traumatic counseling. Tonight, the agency will celebrate that landmark, bringing staff, volunteers, law enforcement and survivors together to share their stories.

“We had no funding, no supplies and no building to work out of,” said Lisa DeSilva, director of development. She was one of the Gavilan college students who founded the grassroots rape crisis service in 1981. “What we did have, in abundance, was an unequivocal commitment to support rape survivors and the desire to help them find their way out of the silence.”

The event will take place from 6 to 8pm at Mama Mia’s Restaurant, located at 275 E. Dunne Avenue in Morgan Hill. Refreshments will be served.
