Want to make sure you’re not the one home with the ‘icky’ treats
this Halloween? Kids rate the candy you’re likely to hand out and
we take a look at the nutritional value

With the childhood obesity epidemic regularly making headlines, some South Valley residents may feel guilty handing out high-fat,
high-sugar candies this Halloween. Though people can always consider handing out small toys as an alternative, it isn’t necessary to totally give up on candy. Just pay attention to the nutrition labels on the sweets you buy.
To help shoppers who plan to pick up their Halloween goodies this weekend, we looked at some nutrition labels and tested out the candy on the experts: kids. After all, no one wants the reputation as the house on the block with the icky treats, right? Melissa Goodwin, 13, and Justin Goodwin, 10, of Hollister and Erin Porteur, 14, give these candies a thumbs up, thumbs down or a so-so rating.
