Spend Friday Night ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Gilroy – Enjoy a night of dancing from 6 to 9pm Friday at a middle school dance. All sixth- and seventh-grade students who attend Brownell, South Valley or Ascencion Solorsano middle schools are invited to the event, which will have a DJ, dancing, games, prizes and pizza and will be held at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St.

Entrance costs $3 and requires a school identification card or an official form signed by the student’s principal or vice principal.

The dance is put on by the city of Gilroy in cooperation with the Gilroy Unified School District and is sponsored by the Gilroy Rotary Club.

Health Fair Planned for Local Seniors

Gilroy – Local seniors are invited to attend a free health fair Thursday courtesy of the Leadership Gilroy Class of 2007.

The “Senior Safety and Health Awareness Fair” will run from 9am until 2pm at the Gilroy Senior Center. Attendees will receive a “goody bag,” safety demonstration, health and safety information and hourly door prizes.

Highlights include:

– Safety demonstrations

– Free lunch for first 250 attending seniors

– Free goodie bags for all participants

– Free transportation from senior housing complexes, upon request

– Special Health & Safety Informational booths

Pintello presents ‘The Long Weekend’

Family Kite Day at Pacheco Park

Gilroy – Enjoy a day of high-flying fun June 16 at Pacheco State Park’s Sixth Annual Family Kite Day. Everyone flying a kite receives a free souvenir button. In addition to kites, kids can entertain themselves with free face painting and contests.

Cost is $5 per car. Pacheco State Park is located on Highway 152 between Gilroy and Los Banos. Turn south at the San Luis Reservoir/Dinosaur Point sign then take the first right.

Elks Lodge Classic Car Show Coming to Gilroy

Gilroy – The Elks Lodge presents its 4th Annual Classic Car and Truck Show from 11am to 3:15pm, June 16 at 2765 Hecker Pass Highway.
