A 2.4 magnitude earthquake shook 39 miles southeast of Gilroy at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The small quake’s epicenter was 4 miles from Pinnacles and 21 miles southeast from Hollister. It was felt as far away as San Jose’s City Hall or 65 miles from the epicenter.

The depth of the quake was 4.2 miles, according to the USGS.
