The “One For Brian” 9-hole benefit golf tournament and dinner Sept. 9 at the Gilroy Golf Course raised $31,115 Brian Bowe, the executive director of the Gilroy Garlic Festival who is battling carcinoid cancer.
This morning, Bowe was surprised with checks strewn all over the board room table at the Garlic Festival headquarters. The committee of organizers along with Garlic Festival staff members held signs that said, “One … Ooops … Two for Brian.”
Bowe was emotional and very thankful.
The goal was to earn $15,000 to wipe out the financial burden of one of his needed treatments, which is not covered by insurance.
