The I.F.D.E.S. Portuguese Hall of Gilroy celebrated the Holy Ghost with a parade on May 14. The lodge’s Sr. Queen Toni Marie McIntire and Jr. Queen Braelynn Allen were featured in the parade, as were dozens of other queens and side maids from lodges visiting from other neighboring cities. The parade began at the Portuguese Hall on Old Gilroy Street before making its way through downtown on Monterey Street to St. Mary’s Church on First Street. The festivities began with a Rosary on May 7 and continued with a dance and musical performance on May 13. Following Mass at St. Mary’s Church, the parade returned to the hall for a traditional Portuguese dish called sopas.
