The El Roble Elementary School kindergarten classes went on their third annual field trip to Wild Things in Salinas April 30. About 100 students, teachers and parents got up close and personal with a female elephant named Mailika. They learned how to care for an elephant and had the opportunity to hand-feed her a carrot. To prepare for the trip, every student tie-dyed their own T-shirt with the help of parent volunteers. By Kristen Fuller.
