Medical Center as the result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle
accident.
Aaron Michael Smith died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at Stanford Medical Center as the result of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Mr. Smith was born in Gilroy, but lived in Hollister most of his life. He graduated from San Benito High School, in 2003, and was employed as a welder for Larges Metal Fabrication in Watsonville.

He was a very competitive person, said his mother, Debbie Smith. He loved being out doors and took great enjoyment competing in BMX bicycle races beginning in the 8th grade through his sophomore year in high school. He rode in the BMX races at Manzanita Park in Prunedale.

“He was a ‘tinkerer‚’ ” his mother said. “He was a good artist who drew cartoon characters and enjoyed working on bicycles and motorbikes.” Most recently he enjoyed hunting in Los Banos with his father at his duck club.

He is survived by his parents, Charlie and Debbie Smith of Hollister; sisters, Amanda and Alyssa Smith of Gilroy; and grandparents, Bill and Norma Smith of Shelton, Wash., and Lola Alatorre of Arroyo Grande. He was the grandson of the late Richard Alatorre.

Other family members include aunts and uncles Laurie and Jim Heredia of Longmont, Colo; Rick and Monica Alatorre of Richmond; Mike and Lori Smith, Stella and Phil Morgan, Brad and Pam Stites, and Don Smith, all of Washington; cousins Erica and Sarah Heredia of Fort Collins, Colo.; Samuel, Vincenzo, Lola and Elizabeth Alatorre of Richmond; and many cousins living in Washington.

Friends are invited to celebrate Mass of the Resurrection at 7pm Thursday at Sacred Heart Church, Hollister.

Visitation will be held Thursday from noon to 5pm at the chapel the Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home, Hollister, and at Sacred Heart Church at 6:l5pm.

Cremation with private interment will be Saturday.
