Olvera strikes out nine for first career shutout in college
CLAREMONT – Vanguard University freshman Jennifer Olvera, a 2003 Gilroy High graduate, won a rain-shortened 8-0 game over Claremont Mudd-Crips on Feb. 21.

Olvera, a first-team All-League pitcher and shortstop for the Lady Mustang softball team last season who is on scholarship at Vanguard, allowed one hit, struck out eight, and walked five for her first career shutout. The game was called due to the rain after three full innings.

The Lions hold a 6-8 overall record.
