From left to right: GHS student blood drive organizers Tayler Silacci, Lexi Slattery and Emma Leach

The students of Gilroy high School should be applauded, their generosity and willingness to work never ceases to amaze me.
This week we had a Blood Drive here on campus spearheaded by senior student Emma Leach.  Our student leaders this week also kicked off our annual Turkey Drive to collect turkeys to donate to the St. Joseph’s Center to help out the less fortunate.  Many of these students work jobs of their own and are taking rigorous classes, to take time out of their day to help others at this age is something to be celebrated.
So many times we hear things like “teenagers are lazy” or “teenagers have it easy…they don’t know how good they have it”, well I think we underestimate them and don’t take the time to realize how caring and hardworking these young people are. So as our Thanksgiving Holiday approaches, I am thankful for our students here at GHS.
