Gilroy – This is it. In or out.
Despite a 10-game winning streak, the Anchorpoint Christian baseball team needs to win against North Valley today to make the playoffs. A win would give them an 11-1 record and a playoff spot over St. Thomas More, which is also 11-1. Because the Warriors beat St. Thomas More in their last matchup, they would win the tie breaker for first place.
Game time is 11am at Mission College.
“If we win, we’re in,” said Anchorpoint assistant coach Johnny Ramirez. “It’s fun. The buzz going around is if we win, we’re at CCS. Not bad for starting 0-10 and turning it around.”
Anchorpoint (10-10, 10-1 CAL) defeated Mid Peninsula 15-1 in five innings on Senior Day Friday. But it was a pair of freshmen who shut down the Mid Peninsula offense. Ryan Tapia had his first start on the mound and went three innings for the win. Clayton Eslick pitched the final two innings.
Offensively, Jared Haygood went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, Joseph Apolinar went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Julian Toscano went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Michael Seelie went 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Seedings for the CCS playoffs will be determined today after the game.
