Dear Editor,
Is America really better off now than it was four years ago?
You be the judge. Take this recent headline:
”
U.S. adds 96,000 jobs in September.
”
Great news, but the same newspaper (same page) in smaller
articles also announces that Global Crossing, a fiber optic network
operator, according to the article, is cutting 600 jobs!
Dear Editor,

You be the judge. Take this recent headline: “U.S. adds 96,000 jobs in September.” Great news, but the same newspaper (same page) in smaller articles also announces that Global Crossing, a fiber optic network operator, according to the article, is cutting 600 jobs!
And, the same page, announces that Hitachi, a maker of computer hard disc drives, same article, is cutting 400 jobs here in our backyard!
How many more folks are being let go that will end up in bankruptcy; how many more will lose their homes and their self-dignity with the loss of their jobs? And, how much more of the Bush-Cheney garbage are we going to take?
Also, dear reader, have you noticed that politicians are distancing themselves from Bush? Look at the signs of the office seekers and note that they do not put their party affiliation. One candidate, who alleges he picked strawberries in his youth, had me fooled. In checking on the Internet I discovered that he is of the same party as Bush and Cheney. Why does he not mention it on his political signs?
