A wayward sixth inning cost the GHS baseball team a chance to extend its four-game winning streak, losing 9-5 to Salinas in TCAL action Thursday in Gilroy.

The Mustangs (4-1, 1-1 TCAL) had four errors and gave up seven runs in the disastrous sixth.

Gilroy did however bang out 12 hits including a three-run home run from Bubu Garcia. But in the end manager Johnny Ramirez said it was the fielding faux pas that did in GHS.

Ryan Alba surrender five hits over 5.1 innings of work, but Ramirez said “he just got tired.”

Gilroy gets right back on the horse Friday, hosting league opponent Alisal at 3:30 p.m.
