Gilroy High’s Bubu Garcia was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 39th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Garcia, who is listed on the draft board as a catcher, played primarily shortshop during his varsity career as a Mustang.
The three-time Tri-County Athletic League first team honoree worked out for the Diamondbacks last week.
He followed up a 2011 junior campaign, in which he hit .538, including six home runs, 30 RBI and an on-base percentage of .603 in league play, (he was voted league MVP), with a respectable senior year and another all-league selection.
Also at the conclusion of his junior season, Garcia was named to the ESPN Rise/Cal-Hi Sports All-California First-Team underclassmen list.
He led the TCAL with four home runs in 2012.
