GILROY – The 2010 Gilroy High baseball team is holding a fundraiser dinner and silent auction on Saturday, Feb. 6, treating guests to a chicken and pork roast dinner as well as a lineup of special guest speakers.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15 per adult and $10 for students. The event will start at 5 p.m. in the Student Resouce Center on the GHS campus.

Special guests include Dr. Marco Sanchez, coach Ken Bradley, and GHS alum and current member of the Cleveland Indians, Chris Giminez.

Among others, items to be auctioned off will include Bay Area sports memorabilia, team president Troy Swatzle wrote in an e-mail.

Money raised from the event will go toward field maintenance, tournaments and new uniforms.

The Mustangs are led by first-year head coach Johnny Ramirez, who spent time as an assistant at Anchorpoint and at Sonoma State. Johnny’s brother Horacio Ramirez, who just signed with the Giants is making an attempt to attend the festivities as well, Johnny said.

GHS is coming off of a 17-13-1 record last year and an appearance in the CCS playoffs.

Senior left-handed pitcher Taylor Chris, a two-time TCAL all-league recipient, signed his letter of intent to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo back in the fall.
