More often than not, two defenders, sometimes three, surrounded Ashlee Williams any time she had the ball. Yet, the senior forward managed to average 20 points and 10 rebounds a night for the Gilroy High girls basketball team. And for that, Williams was named the Tri-County Athletic League’s co-Most Valuable Player along with Alisal’s Eva Latu.
Williams, who, according to head coach Kort Jensen, has received looks from such universities as Sonoma State, California State Stanislaus, Northern Arizona, Cal State Monterey Bay and BYU-Hawaii, among others, was also named to the first-team all-league list.
Also receiving accolades were senior Athena Alarcon, who was selected to the second-team, and Kayla Guardino who was chosen as the team’s Richard Chamberlin Sportsmanship recipient.
• It was announced this week that Anchorpoint Christian’s Kelon Jacobs and Josiah Wylie were awarded first-team all-Coastal Athletic League honors. The sophomores led the Warriors in scoring and rebounding this season.
