A life-long resident of Hollister, Bernice was born at home on Hawkins Street, where she resided until she moved to rural Hollister to be closer to her daughter in 1998.
Bernice loved her family, and they would tell you that she was the definition of unconditional love. Her grandchildren fondly  remember her endless back scratches and tickles.
She enjoyed cooking for her family. She was an excellent cook and made every family gathering special with her famous clam dip. Bernice loved to dance. Her favorite band was the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. She also enjoyed helping her daughters with the lost arts of canning, preserving and sewing.
Bernice’s loving presence will be greatly missed by her family and friends who adored her.
Bernice is survived by sister Bessie Lucas, daughters Louise Hayhurst (Jim), Violet Ramoni (Don), and Jeanette LaCorte (Steve), grandchildren Rhonda Bowden, Melisa Lennox, Robert Bowden, Natalie LaCorte, Paul LaCorte, three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.Â
She was preceded in death by  husband John W. Sharer Jr.,  mother and father Luisa and Esubio Gonzales, sister Stella Miguel, and  brothers Tony, Nick and John Gonzales.
