Dust off those saddle shoes

GILROY – The final concert in the free Summer Concert Series is Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Christmas Hill Park Amphitheater.

Concertgoers can dust off their saddle shoes and penny loafers and enjoy a trip down memory lane with The Corvairs, who will feature tunes from the ’50s and ’60s. The Corvairs, a local band, are coming off of great crowds at the Gilroy Garlic Festival.

The concert is sponsored by the Community Foundation Silicon Valley, Gilroy Rotary club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6309. Details: 846-8836.

Arachnophobia

GILROY – Got “arachnophobia?” Then, don’t join Ranger Southworth to learn about all the 8-legged critters that inhabit Coyote Lake. But if that doesn’t bug you come to the visitor center on Saturday from 8 to 9 p.m. to see some arachnids, play arachnid games and listen to spider stories while eating “gummius spiderus.”

If spiders aren’t your thing, the park invites you to see birds of prey up close with the staff of Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center and special guest live raptors at 10 a.m. Saturday. Discover, in person, what makes these birds so cool! Call 842-7800 for more information.
