2004, after battling a lengthly illness.
Betty Lou Reed died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, May 26, 2004, after battling a lengthly illness.
She was 80.
Born in Spencer, Wisc., in 1924, to Charles and Ina Cramer, she graduated from high school in Castlewood, S.D. Soon after she completed cosmetology school and became a beautician.
While on vacation in California, she met her husband, Dwight Reed, on the Santa Cruz pier. He was visiting the Veteran’s Hospital recovering from wounds from WWII while serving in the Marine Corps.
The couple started there family here in California, first in San Francisco then settled in San Jose where they raised sons, Ron, Greg and Mike and a daughter, Betty Lou.
Mrs. Reed spent most of her life as a homemaker and housewife and still found time to do volunteer work.
She is survived by sons, Greg and Mike Reed of Hollister.
She was preceeded in death by husband, Dwight; daughter, Betty; and son, Ron.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home.
