Bev has passed peacefully over her own version of the Rainbow Bridge.
She leaves her husband of 41 years, Bob, her son John, his wife Mary Ellen and grandson Justin, who live in Mendocino County. Other relatives are two nieces, Liz and Jeannie and two nephews, Scott and Greg. Bob’s daughter, Marian, became the daughter Bev didn’t have, and they had a long, loving relationship.
Born in Bisbee, AZ, Bev attended local schools and eventually moved to California, settling in Redwood City. She had a successful career as an executive secretary working in a wide variety of business settings. She and Bob retired from the business world and moved to Hollister in 1984.
Bev survived stomach cancer, thanks to the perseverance and skill of Dr. Enis Martinez, to whom we will be eternally grateful.
Bev loved her cats, her garden, and travel. She and Bob were fortunate to be able to visit many places on six continents during their numerous cruises and land tours.
Bev found solace in her garden, and in addition to other plants and trees she tended to nearly 100 rose bushes.
Bev believed strongly in giving back to the community. She was a volunteer for the
Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary, serving several terms as Treasurer, and many years as Business Manager for the Gift Shop. She and Bob were Charter Members of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served as Secretary of the Church Council.
Her love of animals led her to volunteer for Pet Friends and Rescue. She served on their Board of Directors for many years, and spent countless hours caring for the homeless animals.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no service, and she will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers–we have lots of roses–a memorial may be made to Pet Friends, in care of the mortuary.
