GILROY – VFW Bingo moved to 2-0 atop the Men’s EE Softball League Thursday by outlasting Bad News Block 14-10 at Christmas Hill Park.
Trailing 7-3 after two innings, VFW Bingo pushed across seven runs in the third. Dustin Robinson lashed a run-scoring double and John Castro completed the rally with a two-run home run.
Mike Stephens went 3-for-3 with four RBI for the winners. Josh Florez and Eric Daniel each went 4-for-4, while Wilson Maier 3-for-4 for Bad News Block.
Anritsu kept pace at 2-0 with a 12-11 edging of Heinzen Manufacturing.
John Jimenez and Dave Clark each stroked three hits as Heinzen Manufacturing built an 11-8 lead through six innings. Anritsu fashioned a four-run comeback with six singles, capped by a Tommy Muth RBI. Muth went 4-for-4 and Ben Hartshorn was 3-for-3 for the winners.
Joe Gallegos went 4-for-4 and Pug Risner drove in five runs with a homer and triple in a 13-10 OG’s win over Team Hair FX. Mike Kachel and Joel Torres each went 3-for-3 for Hair FX.
Chris Wong and Tyler Maslanka hit consecutive homers in the fifth to lift the Hit Crew past Gilroy Honda Pilots 13-5 Thursday in Men’s E play at Las Animas Park. Wong went 4-for-4. Tim Schultz and Kevin Austin each went 2-for-3 and scored one Pilot run.
Steve Christian and Steve Eddy hit home runs as New Hope Community Church topped SVCC Sons of Thunder 26-11. Brian Miller homered and Adolfo Tellez scored four Sons of Thunder runs.
Joey Flores hit a two-run home run to lead the Borrahcos past the Assassins 23-20. Ivan Acevedo and Don Rose hit Assassin homers.
Tax Systems (1-0) defeated Humboldt Brewing 19-8 in Men’s D play Friday at Christmas Hill. Mike Olmeda lined a double and three singles for the Taxmen. Dave Keim Jr. homered and Dave Keim Sr. added a triple, double and single for Humboldt.
Ryan Bell belted a triple and two singles to carry the Bomb Squad past Bike Center 12-8. Ro Gaeta homered and Steve Borgna hit two triples for the Bikers.
Steve Aguirre and Arturo Begines homered as Los Cochinos (1-1) defeated Victoria’s Italian Deli 16-12. Russell Emeterio went 4-for-4 and Paul Bianchi homered for the Deli.
Anthony Corral and Gabe Ponce each went 3-for-3 to spark Frank Vargas Taxes (2-0) by Blackout Window Tinting 13-4 in Co-Rec B play Sunday at Las Animas. Steve Aguirre produced two singles for Blackout.
Johnny Andrade hit two home runs to propel Gaeta’s Ballers by Rush Order 16-6. Andrew Mokres went 2-for-2 and Elizabeth Aguilar scored two Rush Order runs.
Len Van Eck went 3-for-3 and Joseph Tovar homered as 2-0 Hi-Energy Networks defeated Out to Play-Pro Electric 16-11 in Co-Rec C play Sunday. Louis Bobadilla homered and Art Naranjo doubled twice for the losers.
The Big Kahunas (1-0) struck for nine runs in the sixth inning to edge El Fuego 14-10. Spencer Straub doubled and tripled in the Kahuna sixth. Brett Scott homered in a 5-for-5 effort for the winners. Chris Hatch went 3-for-3 and Jesus Arias homered for El Fuego.
Tony Martinez went 4-for-4 and Ryan Boyd homered as Team Hair FX topped Anritsu 21-9. Dave Soto homered and Ray Avena went 3-for-4 and scored four Anritsu runs.
