GILROY – If visitors to Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park can spare 30 minutes from the rides, they can watch the Wild Wings bird show featuring exotic birds from around the world.
The show features 20 different birds including Macaws, an Andean Condor and a Eurasian Eagle Owl.
While guests may be entertained enough by the birds’ impressive colors and songs, this show offers even more said Holly Perez spokesperson for the park.
“The coolest thing about this show is that it’s educational, which ties in with the mission of Bonfante Gardens,” she said.
As the bird trainers bring out each species they will talk about wing span, coloring, habitat and more.
One highlight is a singing Yellow Naped Amazon, an owl that soars over the audience and the only free-flying, black red-tailed cockatoo in the United States.
They will discuss the owls’ eyesight and what enables them to fly so silently through the night.
After the show the audience is free to join the trainers on stage to take a closer look at a few of the birds and ask questions.
The performance runs several times daily at the Lakeside Amphitheater through Sept. 6.
